Fees are determined by the time spent on a case and according to the drugs, materials, consumables and diets used. A printed or emailed fee list is available on request. All fees, drug, diet charges are subject to VAT at the current rate. You will receive an itemised fee sheet transaction.
We reserve the right to charge for appointments not kept.

Accounts are due for settlement at the end of each consultation, on the discharge of your pet or on the collection of drugs/diet. Cash and most debit and credit cards are accepted. Should an account not be settled within seven days, a reminder will be sent with an additional fee in respect of administrative costs. Further reminders will incur further charges as will referral to our debt collection agency.

We are happy to provide an estimate of the likely costs of the course of treatment. However, please be aware that an estimate can only be approximate as a pet’s illness does not always follow a conventional course and additional costs may occur which cannot be predicted at the outset. We will discuss any additional costs as they rise.

If you are unable to settle your account as specified please discuss the matter with a member of staff prior to treatment.

We hope that you never have reason to complain about the standards of service received from us. However, if you feel you do have cause for complaint, please put your concerns in writing.

Case records, including radiographs and similar documents, are the property of and will be retained by Town Vets Limited. Copies will be forwarded, on request, to another veterinary surgeon taking over the case.

  • Pets requiring long term medication must be examined by our veterinary surgeon every three months.
Most of our antiparasitic treatments are Prescription Only Medicines and can only be dispensed to pets that have been examined by our veterinary surgeon within the last 12 months.
  • The Medicines Act requires that we use only veterinary licensed products. In the event of a veterinary licensed product being unavailable, we will use a product licensed for another species after carrying out a risk/benefit analysis. Your consent will be sought for this.
  • We follow the British Veterinary Association’s code of Practice on Medicines which states that ‘once stock has been dispensed, it should not be accepted back into the dispensary’ hence we cannot issue refunds for medicines taken off the premises.
  • We will provide a written prescription for a medicinal product subject to certain conditions.

An emergency service for our clients is provided by Vets Now LIverpool or Preston.

Home visits are available if booked in advance but it is usually in the best interests of your pet to be seen at the surgery.

No person employed by Town Vets has the authority to alter these terms and conditions.
